Fitness is your business. How do you manage to always be super fit yourself?
It may sound strange, but it’s important to take the pressure off yourself. If you want to be fit in the long term, you have to take a relaxed approach and not condemn yourself for not doing sports 5 times a week. I’ve always trained 4 to 5 times a week and stay on the ball – continuity is the most important thing.
Do you have any tips for turning a workout routine into a real habit?
The crucial thing is to have fun. And unfortunately, it’s not fun from the first second. Maybe it’s a little depressing at first that you can’t do something or that you can’t coordinate it. Learning takes time, no expert is born that way. But there should always be a spark of joy. If jogging or playing tennis is not for you, you have to try out what gives you more pleasure.
And if the successes still fail to materialize?
It’s essential to take a close look at your diet! You can’t train away poor nutrition or regular midnight snacks. Even a hard workout session only burns around 300 calories, depending on your body – that’s not even 2 pieces of pizza!
So stress and emotional eating should be avoided, and I recommend shopping for natural foods and cooking your own food as often as possible so you know what’s in the food. These high protein foods will support your muscle building.
Do you follow a special diet?
I eat a natural diet and avoid refined sugar, but I’m not afraid of fructose. I eat fruits without limit, but the focus is on hearty meals. I cook everything myself and pay attention to organic products. It’s important that nutrition doesn’t feel like a ban.
I have an incredible amount of fun cooking and developing recipes myself. For me, everything happens quite quickly, my daily routine doesn’t allow me to spend hours in the kitchen – that’s important to make it happen every day. Also, I always eat without distractions from my phone: just noticing the food is wonderful.
